just because I found this in an old email to the UA list, and though that there might be other people out there looking for it:
A quick google on “harvard ldap” turns up this
and if I remember right from setting it up in mac mail, the important parts are phonebook.harvard.edu port 389 no ssl, and “o=Harvard University, c=US”
